As I usually do on Sunday mornings, yesterday I entered my numbers for the last couple of days in Quicken. I then downloaded the information from my two checking accounts and came close to balancing my checkbook.
Next, I transferred some money into my ing account.
Finally, I updated my spending plan actuals so I know what [...]
One of the ways I’ve started to earn what I deserve is by keeping my numbers. That means tracking every single penny I spend. I do this by keeping receipts and keeping a 3 x 5 card in my purse to write down expenditures I don’t get a receipt for.
Then, at least in theory, Sunday [...]
I’m also a freelance writer - my writing blog is now at www.aboutfreelancewriting.com - which means my income is uncertain. I have savings that help smooth that out nicely. Even so, I get confused!
I need to move and I thought I had a cool studio with a separate office, and a yard, complete [...]
Yesterday was Blog Action Day. I did a couple of posts over at my writing blog, TheGoldenPencil, including one I titled The Day After…
It got me remembering again that I have never ever expereinced anything like true poverty. Sure, I’ve underearned and made a bunch of stupid decisions about money, but the truth also is [...]

Right now I feel slightly [...]
Okay, okay, the truth is keeping my numbers isn’t something I always do very elegantly. It’s a developing practice. And yes, I do try to include logging in my receipts as part of my meditation, but… The truth is I’d gotten way way behind… this has happened before and I know the only [...]
Dave Ramsey, who teaches folks how to get out of debt and stay out of debt, hates credit card debt. Small wonder, when you consider credit card debt is unsecured and the cost, or interest rates, are, for the most part usurious. When you realize that, at 18% you’re paying $18 for every [...]
Most of the folks I know who are involved in letting go of unsecured debt and under earning also report they have issues with clutter. That is, they report that, like me, paper tends to pile up until it falls over, stuff collects in the car until it’s too embarrassing to take a passenger, [...]
Last week I ran a conference for that ran from Wednesday to Sunday held at a nice hotel. We had 105 people sleeping at the hotel, eating at our banquets and meeting in about 10 meeting rooms. We also had computers, a copier that did everything but the dishes and printers. It was quite a [...]
